Principal Welcome

Welcome to Five Acre Wood! A website can never capture all aspects of school life but it can provide a taste of what we are able to offer.  We cater for children and young people with Profound, Severe and Complex Needs, including Autism, from Maidstone and the surrounding area.

We are privileged to work with our pupils and a staff from all walks of life and with varied life experiences. Teaching staff work in teams; with a Teacher, Higher Level Teaching Assistant or Senior Teaching Assistant and Teaching Assistants in each class. The number of staff in a class will depend on the needs of the pupils in the class.

We believe that partnership with parents and carers is very important. We work closely with parents and carers to support each pupil’s learning across settings.

We have a team of NHS specialist school nurses on site, our own therapy team (Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists) and TEAM, who work with parents to support learning. We have visiting professionals to support our pupils, such as Visual Impairment specialists, working with us.
