Volunteer
We regularly offer volunteer positions within the school. We do however require a commitment of at least one day per week for a minimum of 2 terms, to enable both yourself and our pupils to benefit from the experience. Volunteers are subject to a screening process and will only be invited if we have capacity within the school for the time period requested.
Volunteer positions are as follows:
Class based volunteers
- Helping learning settle in the classroom.
- Support on trips.
- General support throughout the school.
- Creating display work and preparing resources in the classroom.
- Providing an excellent role model for our children and young adults.
You should have:
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Ideally, experience in childcare and/or youth work.
- Ability to work well within a team.
Swimming/Hydrotherapy/Rebound volunteers
- Support with our hydrotherapy pool
- Support our swimming programme (both on and off site)
- Support rebound therapy
You should have:
- Ideally, experience in childcare and/or youth work.
- Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team.
- Commitment of at least one day per week for a minimum of one school term. (12 weeks).
- Must be a competent swimmer.
- Have the ability to learn on the job and bring with them energy, patience and enthusiasm.
We offer our volunteers:
- An induction programme.
- Free school lunch (please order at main reception before 9.30am).
- Opportunities to participate in social events.
- A link with the volunteer’s college or university by completing reports, references and assessments as requested, and assisting with research projects and assignments.
- Priceless experience.
- Possible on-site training both formal and informal.
- We normally ask all volunteers to dedicate a minimum of one full day a week starting promptly at 8:30am and ending at 3.30pm. Volunteers must have proficiency in numeracy and literacy.

All positions will be subject to satisfactory references and DBS checks. DBS checks and relevant training will be put in place before your volunteering placement can begin.
