F.O.C.U.S

The F.O.C.U.S Learning Approach is for pupils who are able to access an adapted mainstream curriculum delivered through a range of teaching approaches that reflect their individual strengths and needs.

Learning begins with each pupil’s current stage of development, ensuring that the skills, knowledge and understanding they need are at the heart of every lesson. Curriculum subjects provide meaningful contexts in which pupils can practise, apply and build upon these skills, creating personalised learning journeys that support long-term progress.

Pupils access the full range of National Curriculum subjects appropriate to their key stage, adapted to meet their individual needs. Alongside this, specialist interventions and additional curriculum opportunities are provided where appropriate to develop areas such as communication, independence and mobility.

The F.O.C.U.S Learning Approach provides a structured and supportive environment while ensuring learning remains practical, relevant and engaging. As pupils move into the later years of school, they may work towards accredited qualifications, including Entry Level qualifications and, where appropriate, GCSEs, preparing them for their next stage of education and adulthood.
