Oakside/Woodside
Oakside and Woodside are the classes that make up our sixth form, which is set within Aylesford School-Sports College, a mainstream secondary school. We regularly use the canteen, sports and library facilities and join in with many shows and activities throughout the year, enabling both sets of students to learn from each other. Our curriculum is based around developing Functional (English, Maths, ICT) and Vocational skills together with Personal Social Development. All students work towards recognised accreditation and follow a personalised learning pathway. In their own words, our students have written about what they like about life at school.
House System
Our house teams are Hever (blue), Rochester (red), Dover (green) and Leeds (yellow). Throughout the year we compete in a range of activities ending in a big sports day that our parents come to. We also earn points for our houses for being helpful, thinking of others and doing good work.
Transport Awareness
Every week we go out to shop for our cooking lessons, we travel by public bus, minibus or train. We go to all different places like Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda and Maidstone town centre.
Duke of Edinburgh
A group of students will be working towards completion of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award this year. Throughout the year they will working on Volunteering (fundraising) and some students are looking forward to developing their cycling skills as part of the physical section. An overnight expedition (under canvas) is planned for the Summer Term.
