Five Acre Wood School Celebrates Fourth Consecutive Gold School Games Mark
We are delighted to announce that Five Acre Wood School has been awarded the Gold School Games Mark for the fourth consecutive year, recognising our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality physical education, inclusive school sport, and opportunities for every pupil to enjoy being active.
The award, presented through the School Games programme, celebrates schools that demonstrate excellence in promoting physical activity, providing inclusive sporting opportunities, and supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience and lifelong healthy habits. Schools are assessed on a range of criteria, including increasing participation, providing meaningful competition, promoting equality, developing physical literacy, and supporting young people’s personal development through sport.
The timing of this achievement is particularly special as we celebrate Sports Week across our sites and learning approaches. Throughout the week, pupils have been taking part in a variety of fun and inclusive sporting activities, highlighting exactly what the School Games Mark represents – ensuring every child has the opportunity to be active, challenge themselves and experience success.
Over the past year, our pupils have enjoyed an exciting range of sporting opportunities, including football, athletics, dance, swimming, boccia, curling, table cricket, boxing and wheelchair basketball. They have also proudly represented Five Acre Wood School at local festivals and competitions, demonstrating teamwork, determination, resilience and outstanding sportsmanship.
At Five Acre Wood School, we believe physical activity should be accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or starting point. Through our inclusive approach, we aim to build confidence, improve wellbeing, develop friendships and create positive experiences that inspire pupils to enjoy being active.
This fourth consecutive Gold School Games Mark is a testament to the dedication of our pupils, staff and wider school community, who continue to make sport and physical activity an important part of school life.
A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to this fantastic achievement. We are incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together and are already looking ahead to next year, when we hope to take the next step by applying for the Platinum School Games Mark.
